Accelerating Startups Across Borders

Lodestone was engaged to establish, develop and deliver the curriculum for, and establish local and global partnerships for an accelerator collaboration between a MENA and EU government. By playing an integral, end-to-end role in the program from startup selection, to community engagement and determining the companies best positioned to go global, our team contributed to the development and expansion of the knowledge economy in the MENA Region, EU, and the US.

Our team served on the selection committee, where we determined the 45 companies that were best positioned to join the program from over 160 applications. After six months of joining an intensive program, the top companies were selected and relocated to a Western European startup hub for the remainder of the program, where they were introduced to potential customers, partners, investors, and research collaborations that helped their companies grow and expand beyond the MENA region.

US Infrastructure Design / Development International Strategy

Lodestone was engaged by a top-100 infrastructure design/development firm to develop and execute a market entry strategy into the MENA Region. Our team developed entry strategies in three separate markets on behalf of the client, sourcing prospective opportunities totaling in excess of $2 billion.

Beginning with an intensive, three month planning period involving constant communication and close collaboration with the client, our team tailored a comprehensive strategy that aligned with their goals and the needs of each market while also mitigating potential risks involved. We then spent time on the ground in each market with our client’s leadership team, vetting market and business assumptions, leading introductions, and managing early-stage negotiations between the parties.

Cross-Border Corporate Development Strategy & Execution

Lodestone worked with a multi-billion dollar EMEA holding group to plan and execute its growth strategy, working on a portfolio including international expansion and investment into the US market in the healthcare, infrastructure, real estate, technology, and energy sectors.

Our team developed a comprehensive business plan to establish a US subsidiary that would become responsible for the management of the client’s operations and activities in North America and was responsible for creating value for the company in excess of $100 million through leading negotiations, decision analysis, and cost initiatives.

Asian Foreign Direct Investment

Lodestone worked with an Asian national government economic development agency to execute a comprehensive foreign direct investment strategy, engaging multiple multi-billion dollar prospects on the US West Coast.

We were responsible for sourcing prospects, creating targeted negotiation strategies based on established frameworks in order to position the agency for success, and leading the discussions between the two parties. As a result, cross-border partnerships were formed and expanded, adding value to both our client and the target companies.
